Child Care and Development

Mission and Goals

Texas Southmost College Child Development Early Childhood program provides community based educational opportunities for students to develop entry level skills, to upgrade abilities needed for career advancement, and to complete coursework required for transfer into a baccalaureate (4year) degree program. High quality coursework delivered with integrity by professionally trained, caring faculty and staff leads to earned certificates of proficiency and associate's degrees. The CDCE program also partners with child care providers, local agencies, and professional organizations to enhance the quality of care offered to children and to support child care providers with ongoing professional development. Further, we promote diversity and dynamic early childhood profession; and support all who care for, educate, and work on behalf of young children.

NOTE: Texas Southmost College Child Development Academic Program requires that all child development students enrolling in a child development laboratory course obtain a criminal background check, affidavit, and TB test at their own expense. Students must fill out and submit a Background Student Information Form along with Background Check Consent Form to the Raul J Guerra Child Development Center or call 956- 95-3701 or 956-295-3702 for more information.
