Caps & Gowns

Caps and gowns will be available from May 1 to May 10.  To purchase your cap and gown, you must first pay the $20 fee at the Cashier window in Tandy Hall, and then take your receipt to the Front Counter in the Lightner Center.  You must show your receipt to pick up your cap and gown.

In keeping with the dignity of the ceremony, no additions to the regalia will be allowed.  Candidates for Graduation with altered regalia may not be allowed to participate in the ceremony.

Invitations

Each Candidate for Graduation will receive 5 invitations, free of charge, when they pick up their cap and gown.  Invitations are not required for guests to attend the ceremony - you may invite as many people as you wish to the ceremony.

Grad Fair

Tuesday, May 1, 2018
3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Tandy Hall Lobby
During the Grad Fair you can:

  • Purchase your cap and gown for commencement a day early.  The fee for your cap and gown is just $20, payable by cash, check, or credit card at the cashier window in Tandy Hall.  Take your receipt to the Grad Fair in the Lightner Center.  You must show your receipt to pick up your cap and gown.
  • Pick up your free invitations.
  • Meet with university transfer representatives from a variety of universities and learn about their transfer process.
  • Meet with TSC staff from Transfer, Career and Employment Services who can assist you in the next step towards your career.
  • Meet with TSC Financial Aid staff who can answer any questions you may have regarding your college loans.
  • Get more information regarding the Spring 2018 Commencement ceremony.

If you are unable to attend this event, you may still pick up your cap and gown May 1-10 by paying the $20 fee at the cashier windows in Tandy Hall, and then bringing your receipt to the front counter in the lobby of the Lightner Center.

Honor Cords

Honor Graduates must have completed at least 30 semester hours with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.  Honor cords will be distributed at the Women’s Center when you check-in on the day of graduation.

Graduation Day

  • Candidates for Graduation must arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. for the morning 10:00 a.m. ceremony; and by 12:30 p.m. for the 2:00 p.m. ceremony.
  • Candidates for Graduation arriving late may be excluded from participation in the ceremony
  • Guests are not allowed to bring balloons or noise-making devices inside the arena.

Check-In

Candidates for Graduation should check in for the ceremony at 8:30 a.m. for the morning 10:00 a.m. ceremony; and by 12:30 p.m. for the 2:00 p.m. ceremony at the Women's Center located next to Jacob Brown Memorial Auditorium.  Candidates for Graduation arriving late may not be allowed to participate in the ceremony.
Please do not bring any personal items such as balloons, bouquets or purses as they will not be allowed in the seating area.  Only Candidates for Graduation will be allowed into the Women's Center during check-in.

Diplomas

Only diploma covers will be handed out on stage during the ceremony.  Diploma covers will only be given to Candidates for Graduation participating in the commencement ceremony.  Official diplomas will be available at the Office of Admissions and Records for certified degrees beginning Friday, June 1, 2018, or earlier.  An email will be sent notifying the graduates when they will be ready for pick-up.
